Judging at any show is an honour and a pleasure, but a club show is always that bit special. My thanks to the committee, to the exhibitors and to the dogs for making it such an enjoyable day.

What a joy the baby puppy classes were! Is there anything more gorgeous than a Min Pin baby puppy?!

What a super puppy! Red dog, with a lovely square outline, well-balanced and with excellent movement for his age. Very happy to award him Best Baby Puppy in Show, and I will watch his progress with interest.
2nd WATKINS, BEVIS & BUGDEN’S HAWKSFLIGHT TOO DARN HOT
Another promising youngster. At the moment a little less compact than 1, but this may change as he develops and matures. Another one to watch!

A very pretty puppy with a beautiful head set on a well-proportioned body. I liked her bone and substance, and her level topline sloping to a well-set tail.
2nd BEVIS, BEVIS, CORR, VENEZIA & MACKIE’S HAWKSFLIGHT THAT’S A WRAP AT STECAL
Another lovely puppy, perhaps more elegant and with a little less bone than 1. Movement at the back not yet of the standard of 1, and in fact 3rd place in this class had the best movement overall.

I very much liked this smart red dog, lovely for size and type. Level topline sloping to a well-set tail, and I preferred his front assembly to that of 2.
2nd McLOUGLIN’S KRIEGER’S OOR BRYAN
Another nice red dog, similar size and shape as 1. His skull was a little rounder than I would like, and at the moment his topline was not as consistent as 1’s. I preferred the movement of 3, but he was overall a larger type than 1 and 2.

Well-proportioned red dog, good for bone, but well up to size. He was a little unsettled on the move.

JUNIOR DOG 2 entries
1st SCOURFIELD’S PERNIKETY MAKE YOUR MARK AT DANTON
I found a lot to like about this compact red dog. Well-proportioned body, adequate bone, and with the square outline that I was looking for. Topline sloping to a well-set tail and with excellent movement front and rear, he presented well both when standing and on the move.
2nd SWIFT’S MAUI DEMIGOD WITH STARANUBIS
Another strong youngster, larger and sturdier in type than 1 and with good bone. I liked his masculine head with its good proportions and neat ears. Moved well all round.

Square red dog with a good topline. I liked his neat ears, but the proportions of his head were not quite what I was looking for. He moved well once settled.

Smart red dog with an excellent outline. Beautifully proportioned with a nicely arched neck flowing into a level topline which sloped to a well-set tail. Sound movement, but I would prefer more lift in front.
2nd PARK’S RAYJEN RUM AND RAISIN
Well-marked black and tan, compact body with good proportions. Pleasing expression, but I preferred the head of 1. Initially a little unsettled on the move, but once he got into his stride he moved well in front and behind.

A quality red dog, I very much liked his size and type. Masculine head with well-set ears and an appealing expression. Straight front and good depth of chest. He moved confidently around the ring with hackney action in front and good drive from behind.

Elegant dog with a good topline and tailset. Well-balanced with good proportions. Skull a little rounder than 1.

I very much liked the size and type of this youngster, who was in fact still a junior. Masculine with lovely bone, straight front and good depth of chest. He moved with confidence, good from all angles. A well-deserved RCC.
2nd WATKINS’ CH HAWKSFLIGHT AMERICAN JAZZ JW
Another lovely red, perhaps a little more elegant than 1 but slightly lacking in substance for me. Excellent topline and tailset. Skull a little rounder and preferred the front of 1.

A smart red dog that I was drawn to as soon as he came into the ring, and he did not disappoint on closer inspection. Good proportions gave him the square outline that I love. Masculine head with neat ears. Nice reach of neck, and a strong topline sloping to a well-set tail. He moved with purpose around the ring, well-muscled and with plenty of drive from behind. Happy to award him the DCC and BIS.
2nd SMITH’S CH HAMILTON ARROW AT TUBIZE
Another quality dog, very elegant but not completely happy in the ring despite the best efforts of his sympathetic and very capable young handler.

VETERAN DOG 3 entries/ 1 Abs
1st PARKER’S CH VARDENAIS LUMOS VW
A dog that I have judged before and much admired, and he did not disappoint on this occasion! He is an elegant red with beautiful proportions, level topline sloping to his tail, he presented a beautiful picture both when standing and on the move. He moved purposefully around the ring, with enough lift in front and excellent drive from behind, making him hard to match on the move. Delighted to award him Best Veteran in Show.
2nd McILROY-STRACEY’S KRIEGER'S ELF FANTASTICO
Another smart red dog, wearing very well for his age. Many pleasing qualities and presented beautifully, but he was unlucky to come up against the class winner today.

Sweet red bitch, up to size, with good bone and substance. Nicely proportioned head and attractive expression. She moved well for her age.

There was a lot I liked about this pretty red bitch. Nicely proportioned body with good depth of chest and lovely for size and type. Looked good on the stand and carried herself well around the ring.
LUCKIN’S LADYLUCKPINS AURELIUS
Ultra feminine black and tan with the prettiest of heads. She responded well to her young handler, who at 6 years old, did an excellent job of presenting her exhibit. Very well done!

POST GRADUATE BITCH 0 entries

Lovely red bitch, compact and well-proportioned body shape giving the square outline that I like. Looked good standing and on the move. To be picky, I would prefer slightly darker eyes and slightly smaller feet.
2nd COULL’S VARDENAIS PETITE NOIR
Another bitch I very much liked. Black and tan, elegant and feminine with a shapely body and a good depth of chest. Pleasing head and expression. Not quite the movement of 1 on this occasion which left her in second place.
3rd HARTLEY & FAHEY’S STICMAZE SLAPSTICK WITH ZOOMEERA

What a pretty girl! Feminine with enough substance, I loved her size and type. She moved with style around the ring presenting an excellent profile, and watching her movement in front and behind did not disappoint. For me she had that extra panache that set her apart and epitomized the characteristics described in the breed standard, and for that reason I was delighted to award her the Bitch CC and RBIS.
2nd URWIN’S CH VICKSTOCK WOW ANEEVA JW
Another quality red girl, sharing many similar qualities with the class winner. Excellent for size and type, and with good movement when viewed from all angles. To be a little picky, I would have preferred a slightly harder coat.

If I had been judging solely on presentation, showmanship and temperament, this bitch would undoubtedly have been my Best in Show! She did not put a foot wrong and showed herself to the best advantage at all times. Elegant and stylish, but a little longer in body than I would like, and for me not as accurate a representation of breed type as the CC winner. She showed and moved with style and confidence, and I was happy to award her a well-deserved RCC.

A quality red bitch, carrying her age lightly and with the animation of a much younger exhibit! Excellent movement in front and behind, she presented well from all angles. Good head and appealing expression. Litter sister to the Best Veteran winner.
2nd GRIFFITHS’ CH KELJANTZI XCITING PROSPECT FOR AMIOUS JW ShCM
Another strong veteran, wearing very well for her age. A little longer in body than 1, but with sound movement front and rear and maintaining a level topline at all times.
