Patella Testing
Led by Breed Health Coordinator Di Stark (BVMS MRCVS), the Miniature Pinscher Club has introduced a screening scheme for Patella Luxation (slipping kneecaps)—a health condition known to affect Miniature Pinschers.
- Goal: Encourage testing for as many dogs as possible, particularly prior to breeding, to promote healthy dogs and separate responsible breeders from puppy farmers.
- Results: Preliminary findings show positive results with many Miniature Pinschers scoring well.
Dog First Aid
Being prepared with basic first aid knowledge is one of the best ways to protect your dog in an emergency. If your pet ever gets hurt or suddenly becomes unwell, take a deep breath, stay calm, and contact a vet right away. We recommend having a chat with your veterinarian to get specific first aid tips tailored to your dog’s breed, size, and health needs. Most importantly, never put your own safety at risk while caring for your pet, and always bring in professional veterinary help as soon as you can.
Dog Poisons
Many everyday household items—including some that are perfectly safe for humans—can be toxic to dogs. Protect your pet by keeping all potential hazards securely out of reach and out of the areas your dog frequents.
